What does a small business website cost in Kansas City?

There are three ways to get a website for a small local business. Here is what each one costs, what you get, and how to choose, in plain numbers.

Short answer: Building it yourself on Wix or Squarespace costs about $200 to $300 a year, plus your time. Having a simple one-page site built costs $500 to $900, one time, with us. Or the website comes inside a package, from $249 a month, that also handles your calls and follow-ups. Most local businesses need only one good page.

How much does it cost to build a website yourself?

About $200 to $300 a year for the basic plans. Website builders give you templates you fill in yourself. As of October 2026, Squarespace’s plans start at about $16 a month paid yearly ($25 month to month), and Wix’s at about $17 a month paid yearly ($24 month to month). Prices change, so check their own pricing pages before you sign up.

Good for: owners who enjoy design, have a few evenings free, and will keep the hours and prices current.

Watch for:

  • The real cost is your time: writing, photos, and coming back to update it.
  • The free web address often only lasts the first year.
  • Booking, online ordering and email marketing can mean a higher plan or paid add-ons.

How much does it cost to have a simple website built?

Ours cost $500 to $900, one time, for a one-page site: your hours, services, photos, service area and a big tap-to-call button, made to read well on a phone. That includes:

  • A free mockup, shown on your phone, before you decide anything
  • The web address registered in your name, with your email as the owner
  • Your Google listing, Instagram and Facebook pointed at the new site
  • Live in about 1 to 2 weeks after you approve the mockup

You pay for the web address and hosting directly, so nothing is held hostage if you ever move on. Bigger custom builds from agencies cost more; most bakeries, salons, trades and shops don’t need one.

Can I get a website as part of a package?

Yes. If customers are slipping through the cracks (missed calls, forms nobody answered, quotes that went quiet), the website is only part of the fix. Our packages include the site, with no setup fee:

  • Launch, $249 a month: a one-page website, plus every inquiry in one list and missed calls answered by text
  • Grow, $499 a month: a page for each main service, kept up to date every month, plus review requests and win-backs
  • Scale, $899 a month: a full site with a page for each service and each area you serve, plus a dashboard and a monthly numbers review

What matters more than the price?

  • It works on a phone. Most people looking up a local business are on one.
  • Your hours and phone number are right, and match your Google listing.
  • One tap to call, book or order.
  • The web address is in your name. If someone else owns it, you don’t really own your website.
  • You can get changes made without starting over.

Which option should I choose?

  • You like doing it yourself and have the time: a website builder.
  • You want it done once, simply, and owned by you: a one-page site built for you.
  • You are losing customers who already reached out: a package, so the site, the phone and the follow-ups work together.

Not sure? Say hello. A 15-minute call is usually enough to tell, and every price is agreed in writing before any work starts.

Questions

Do I need a website if I already have a Google listing?

A Google listing is often the first thing customers see, so get it right first. A website gives that listing somewhere to send people, with your services, prices and a way to call, book or order.

How long does it take to build a small business website?

Ours take about 1 to 2 weeks after you approve the free mockup.

Will a website builder like Wix or Squarespace hurt my search ranking?

Not by itself. What matters more is that the site says plainly what you do and where, loads quickly on phones, and matches your Google listing.
